Bet on Freak

A mobile app concept where users place stakes on personal challenges — reframing the mechanics of betting around self-improvement and charitable causes, rather than gambling.

01 · Research

Seven conversations before a single screen.

During the information-gathering stage, I conducted qualitative interviews with seven people aged 18–27, live or remote via Google Meet. They allowed me to understand user problems and the benefits they seek — their expectations regarding betting, their experiences in that area, and their social media usage. Based on the interviews, I created a persona and developed a full value proposition canvas.

02 · Ideate

Red routes: the paths that matter most.

Knowing the pain points and benefits of our user, we found solutions using the design thinking method. The next stage was defining solutions for the MVP and checking whether they aligned with the expectations of users and stakeholders — and how often, and by whom, they'd actually be used.

Customer journey map

The customer journey map shows the illustrated process of a user's interaction with the app — from the moment they realize a need, through to participating in a challenge. It reveals what emotions and experiences accompany the user, what products they already use, and where the biggest opportunities for improvement sit.

User flow

Two flows anchor the MVP: logging in, and starting a challenge.

03 · Design

Purple for ambition, yellow for reward.

The stage at which I intended to conclude my work was developing a detailed interface for the mobile version. Based on the collected data, interviews, and market analysis, the interface is meant to be user-friendly and evoke positive emotions. In the visual layer, I used purple, associated with wealth and luxury and known to stimulate creativity — paired with yellow, a hue identified with happiness, summer, and relaxation.
